Montana Food Products sources local food as much as possible. We have a processing plant in Lolo, MT (Montana Food Products) where we transform local produce into institution-ready packages. We currently contract with five farmers between Kalispell and the Missoula valley.

Bridging Barriers

Lack of small food processing has been identified as one of the largest barriers to providing local food to the school systems. Montana Food Products acts as a much-needed liason between Montana farmers and Missoula Public schools.

We support healthy kids in two primary ways:

1. Fresh Food

In sourcing local food as much as possible, we provide schools with healthy foods that have a fresh-from-the-garden taste, meaning kids will actually eat them!

2. Omega-3's

Research has proven the vast health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids, including their crucial role in brain function and normal growth and development. Research has also shown that many of our kids don’t get enough of these essential fatty acids. Many of our products include Omega-3 fatty acids which can be identified with our Omega symbol:

One of the many objectives of Montana Food Products and Affiliated Companies is to serve as a working model for the processing and delivery of healthier food products to the schools of America.

The health of children has been a concern shared by many in today’s society. Obesity in children and young adults is on the rise. Many parents and children rely on the school lunch program for a healthy meal however, studies have shown that many school lunches are not nutritious at all. .

Farm to School is a nationwide program that brings healthy food from the farmers to the school children of America. Students learn about the path from farm to fork and learn healthy eating habits that can last for a life time. It is the goal of American food products to aid in a healthier America, which is why we created our own line of products for the Farm to School program.

Montana Food Products believes our children’s education is important, and that healthier food in schools has a direct effect on learning. Our all natural Farm2 School TM products are an excellent source of Omega 3 fatty acids and fiber. Omega 3 fatty acids contribute to normal brain development and function and also support heart, joint and eye health, and healthy cell structure, which benefit all functions of the body and immune system.
